"Sorry Bhai is confirmed for 28th November" - Onir
| By Joginder Tuteja, Bollywood Hungama News Network August-September 2008 has been the best time for Bollywood when it comes to a string of successful films that it has witnessed week after week. Singh Is Kinng, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Phoonk, Mumbai Meri Jaan, Rock On, A Wednesday, 1920, Welcome To Sajjanpur - going couldn't have been better for the industry. What is also notable is the fact that except for Singh Is Kinng and Bachna Ae Haseeno, each of the remaining films has been a) medium budget affair and b) boasted of an unconventional subject. No wonder, Onir is ecstatic about the prospects of his latest film Sorry Bhai. 'With audiences looking forward to grabbing different subjects that have a new story to tell and are not necessarily running after star studded affairs, this seems to be just the best time for a movie like Sorry Bhai to arrive', he believes. "This is why I am relatively relaxed when it comes to Sorry Bhai. It has been a great time for Bollywood. Audience is so receptive to all kind of subjects, if told well. In any case, with Sorry Bhai, I move out of that so-called serious cinema tag that has been bestowed upon me. After My Brother Nikhil and Bas Ek Pal, audience had gone back home with a heavy heart. However, it would be a different experience for them as Sorry Bhai is a feel good entertainer and I am sure they would go back smiling", laughs Onir. Getting serious, he maintains though that Sorry Bhai would boast of a sensibility of its own. "I can't make frivolous cinema; it has to have some standing of it's own at the least", says Onir, "And I am glad that I have a bunch of superb actors working in. From Boman Irani to Shabana Azmi to Sanjay, Sharman and Chitrangada - I am glad that they all have come under one roof for Sorry Bhai. I have been spoilt with the experience", says Onir in a nostalgic tone. Mumbai Mantra, a Company sponsored by the Mahindra Group, has entered into a joint venture with Vashu Bhagnani for Puja Films. "They have good promotional plans for Sorry Bhai and I am happy with their approach towards Sorry Bhai. The film is confirmed for 28th November release. We should be beginning promotion of the film late October and would look at an intense four weeks campaign", concludes Onir. |
